    In-Car Battery Charger

Hey - I am going away camping in a few weeks and was wondering about battery chargers using the car battery as I will be without electricity. I have a spare battery so might be OK but I saw some chargers on the net that work off a car charger socket as well as plug for around a tenner. Are these cheap chargers any good? Wondering what sort of time it would take to charge up a battery.

Hi Simon I bought an inverter from Halfrauds, it uses 12 volt in and gives you 240volt out, this meant I could charge batteries and use the laptop too, be careful though and make sure you get one of at least 500 watts.

I can't comment on the 12 volt chargers as I don't have one.

I wouldn't buy too cheap a charger. The Unipal ones seem pretty reliable and do 300+ battery types, and has an in car charger adapter.

Thanks guys, some good suggestions there. James, would I really need a 500W model for a camera battery?

    Re: In-Car Battery Charger

    Hi Simon,

I originally bought this one, then ended up returning two units as they were both faulty.
Camera Battery Charger for Canon Digital Cameras: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Then I bought this 'Uniross' one which has worked well.

Both came with 12v car adapters.

Uniross Universal Li-Ion Charger: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

    Hope this helps.
