hey all,
im still in australia, (Perth WA to be exact) and i am making plans to travel further within the next few months, (hopefull new zealand, all over australia, and as much of asia and china as i can cram in and afford!!!)
i bought a sweet little 10" laptop a few months back, got it stolen 3 weeks later. not that big a loss, u could hear it groaning trying to preview a RAW file. no use for editing / previewing / reviewing images.
now i have bought a sweet 16:9 15.6" screen samsung laptop.
it is only just too large to fit into my lowepro micro AW, which is nearly the size of the minimum carry on luggage restrictions for flights.
so in short, i need a tough hard case to put my laptop in for travelling as it will have to go into my backpack, and therefore into hold luggage for flights.
i have researched the 1090 pelican case. does anyone else have this case or any pelican case for that matter? would you recommend it / pelican cases in general?? do you know of any postential alternatives. i need the case to be strong and as thin and small prfiled as possible. i have no control over how much tossing the backpack will get when it goes onto hold luggage!!!!
also does anyone have a simiar sized case recommendation for my situation. i only need to protect the laptop body, i can pack the power cable and hard drives seperate is necessary. some of the laptop case peli have shown on their website are WAAAY to big for backpacking.
i dont mind spending a bit of cash if it protects my laptop.
or should i just ditch the micro AW bag for all my cam gear and see if i can get one bigger than that to hold all my camera gear and laptop in one place. this would mean on flights i could have all the precious valuables i own in the world as hand luggage.
advise please.
i hope i have made myself clear, (i normally dont), and i have typed this in a rush at the end of my lunch break.
thanks in advance.
tom
