    Re: ND Grad Filters

i upgraded from the cokins to hitechs not so long ago and without using the wideangle holder i do get a lot of vignetting at the wide end of the 17 - 40mm not so much of a problem for me as i don't seem to shoot much wider than 24mm, however i still do get a magenta cast on more occasions than i like, this seems to be for instance on longer exposures and particularly when using say a nd grad stacked with a grad nd. also something that i don't like is that the graduation on the gnd seems to come too far down on the filters thereby if i have a scene with a high horizon and have to push the filters right up the bottom of the filter is in the frame, i'm not sure how this could be resolved as i'm sure it could easily apply the other way but it bothers me no end. i wish i was loaded and i would have just got the lee filters straight off but it wasn't to be.

If you are serious about landscape photography, I would highly recommend the 100mm filters as has been mentioned.
    I bought a Cokin Z-pro holder + a free 100mm ND4 filter from ebay.
I then bought a set of Lee soft grads (colour cast free) with birthday money then managed to pick up the Lee Filter holder 2nd hand.
It came with the WA adapter ring which was fortunate.

    Re: ND Grad Filters

Thanks again for the advice guys, went to the shop this afternoon and bought the Cokin kit (P-series) along with a wide-angle holder. I took a few shots trying out the filters, might post one up tomorrow if they came out OK!
