    Re: Replacement Batteries

Just in case no-ones sure (sorry if you all know this), the important thing to look for is the Mah number - this is the milli amp hour rating and essentially states how long your battery will last.

So if your canon states 1000mah, and a cheap one is only say 600mah, you wont be impressed with its performance and its not worth getting.

Some cheap third party batteries will have a very low Mah, but others can be equal if not higher than the Canon originals for a fraction of the cost.
These are the ones you want to go for, as they will last a long time and give a decent performance for your pound.

    Re: Replacement Batteries

I cant fault the Ansmann compatible batteries, infact my 3 spare Ansmann's often out perform [for almost a 3rd of the cost] the genuine Canon [and work with the Canon charger] batteries I have

You can generally find them for around £18 - £20 in many locations such as Amazon

    Colin,

Can you find the Mah rating of the Ansmmanns following on from Nogs post?

The Ansmann batteries [BP-511A] that I use in my 50D/30D are rated at 1400mAh, which is very slightly higher than the genuine Canon BP-511A's rating of 1390mAh Hugh

    Re: Replacement Batteries

    Thanks Colin,

I have got over my earlier battery issue with the very kind donation of a Canon one but am still looking at getting some back-ups so these look like a very good option.

    Hi Peter,

That is a good mAH rating indeed and, if I remember correctly, they are very nicely priced as well.

    Re: Replacement Batteries

It hardly seem worth the bother of recharging them!
