I currently have a Logan mount cutter which does a great job. I have been using masking tape on the back corners of my printed images to stick the image to the mount, then follow that up with masking tape around the edges.
Question now is that I need to use backing boards and wondered what the best way of mounting the image to the mount then how to mount this to the backing board.
Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks Les,
So I presume you affix the photo to the mount with masking tape first, like me.
What width tape do you use, and do you run just one bead around the outside edge, or just inside?
Cheers

Hi Martyn,
You really need to get some acid free tape (craft shop) for mounting images - masking tape won't do the photo paper any good over time.
I mount the image to the backing board, using T-hinges on the top edge only.
Then V-hinge the mount to the backing board by laying the mount upside down adjacent to the top edge of the backing board.
This way everything is free to move with expansion/contraction and should avoid any wrinkling of the image happening.

Hope that helps.

Hi Martyn , just as Stu says ,this is the generally recognised way to do it , I was shown by the framers that make all my mounts and frames.
I , like you started making my own , then managed to get them down to an aceptable price , = gave me more time elsewhere lol

I'm a novice at mounting photos so if you get time Lez - you or one of the other experienced "mounties" might do a blog?

I second the "only attach at the top" method. This allows the subject to expand/contract/move about a little without warping.
Terrible presentation, but shows you how to do it.
