Hi everyone, I have always had an interest in astronomy and with the recent purchase of my Canon 450D I heard about digiscoping. I haven't a clue when it come to connecting my digital camera to a telescope of any description but wondered if there were any rules around purchasing a specific one so that I can take pictures of the moon and stars.
I was looking on eBay and there are no end of telecopes available but I didn't want to go ahead and just buy any old one and it not be compatible.
Cna anyone offer any advise when looking to purchase a telescope to couple together with my camera?
Many thanks,
Darren

I use my 350d connected to a nice ED refractor - feel free to drop me aline for hints'n'tips. I'm also President of Aberdeen Astro Soc, and can refer you onwards if I get stuck :-)

Heh - realistically - run away from a 90quid scope if you want to photograph stars/moon. You will be very disappointed. Astro Engineering do a MaxDSLR adaptor which avoids nasty vignetting
For really nice results you will need to budget around 2000quid. Sorry if I've scared you!
For starters I'd recommend a 2nd hand EQ5 driven mount with your camera and a 300mm tele lens, which will set you back maybe 700quid-ish. But importantly will give you tracking abilities and allow long exposure photos without many of the painful snags.
Can I whet your appetite with one of my Moon shots:
Much as I love CFF, you may get some greater suggestions from SGL - StargazersLounge. And more importantly the chance to meet other astro-photographers in your area so you can suck it and see if this is going to work out for you. AP is expensive in kit and time - but immensely rewarding when it all comes together!
