    Canon 40d eyepiece

I thought I read somewhere that you can get a replacement eyepiece/eyecup for the Canon EOS 40D. I don't want a plain one, I'd like one with the 3rds grid on it. Has anyone else heard of this, and if so, where can I buy one please.

    Thanks and regards,
    Sue

It is not the eye piece that has the grid on it but the Focus Screen in the camera you will need to replace it with the grid version......... BUT BE CAREFUL.......... watch video below (see link)

Here is a link to purchase the screen

    AND
Here is a video on how to do it

Thanks for your help chaps. Very much appreciated. I thought it was the eyepiece - duhhhhhhhh, stupid me. Still, if you don't know, you don't know. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I've got a thingy on order and will throw myself on the mercy of my local shop to see if they will fit it for me.

    Thanks and regards,

    Re: Canon 40d eyepiece

I received my focusing screen and guess what, it was dead easy to fit myself. I'm well chuffed with myself.

Another question though - I bought an eyepiece extender for my Canon 40D. It was a compatible but it states that it's an eyepiece magnifier. Does anyone know please, if the real Canon extender is magnified? None of the write-ups say they are - just that they help to keep your nose away from the LCD screen and make it a bit easier for those blind bats like me, who wear glasses.

Thanks Pete. Read the review. Maybe the one I got has the magnification because the real one has a 30% loss in magnification. I must try them out to see the difference between the new one and my original kit viewfinder.
