L Bracket for 5D Mk II

I wonder if any of you use a L bracket? I've just ordered the Kirk version from WE. It will allow me to switch quickly from portrait to landscape without using the ballhead dropslot. I'm also trying to move to an Arca Swiss style clamping system so hopefully all will work well together. I hope it won't turn out to be a white elephant! Anyone using one?

Ballheads are really versatile - providing you have a decent one, but the dropslot can be a pain in the you know what.
I bought a Manfrotto joystick head which is a joy to use with no creeping even with the weight of my 1D3 c/w 300 f4 + 1.4.
Really easy to compose in any position.

Thanks Mike. I've got a joystick head too and they are good but I want to keep the camera over the tripod's centre of gravity when in portrait orientation so hopefully it will do the trick. It arrived today from WE (ordered at 6.00pm last night!) so I'm just waiting for a new Arca Swiss style clamp to fit to the ballhead and I'll be ready to try it out and report back.
