Update .............. the £12.99 version has arrived ............ charged her up fully, not quite as good a fit as the Canon original, but has all the weather sealing rubber gaskets on it and looks like the real version in every aspect..............
Will keep you posted on performance .........

Any feedback on this battery yet?
I could not wait and so I bought one.
Saved me a fortune until I realised that I probably did not really need one.
Anyway it seems to fit OK and my camera has not as yet caught fire.

Thank you Colin for the info

Re: Batteries for 1dmkiii ......advice please

    Thanks Mark.

I do have an update. Mine has run for a couple of months now with no problems and it appears to last just as long as the genuine and I haven't noticed any difference in the number of shots.

However, a friend bought two and one has died on him. After ripping it apart and testing it, one cell had died. He contacted 7DayShop and they offered a refund, or replacement. He chose a replacement and it arrived priority post a couple of days later and it works fine. They didn't want the old one back and took him at his word - good for 7 DayShop!

I know quite a few other people that use these without problem, but there is always a risk, even with Canon kit.

Sorry guys ........... not had time to use it much
    Latest report ..........
Took loads of shots last weekend (about 600) .......... went down to about 65% battery power and is still firing them out ......... no problems so far except it is not quite such a snug fit as the canon, so would not use it in a hurricane

Re: Batteries for 1dmkiii ......advice please

Quick update on the cheepo battery.

Have been running it for about 4 months now without problem. I am using it more than the genuine Canon batteries just to test it out and because it amuses me. There seems to be no discernible difference between the number of shots available on this or the Canon batteries and the initial tight fit has worn off and it seems very similar to the Canons.

I keep at least one spare Canon battery with me just in case, but I am using it with increasing confidence.

Friends using the same battery also report no problems, just that one that never worked from new. Not bad for £12.

Glad that you guys have posted this thread. I've been looking for a back-up battery for a while now and even tried a couple that friends were using but they drained far too quickly or didn't seem fit well enough for me.
So with your input here, I'll give the Novatech a go.

    Thanks

Re: Batteries for 1dmkiii ......advice please

Unfortunately my 7dayshop LP-E4 died today, it will not charge up.
I have contacted 7 dayshop and hope they will remedy the situation.
This it typical at the moment though as it is the 3rd item I have that has broken/failed recently, the other 2 being my computer power supply and my citizen eco-drive watch.
I hope this is the end though as I believe that these things happen in threes.
    Heres hoping

I received a replacement today, good service from 7 dayshop.
But it also died in my charger.
My Canon one seems OK though as I was concerned that the charger was cooking them.
I will see what happens next.

    Interesting Mark.
I just got my first battery through from7DayShop two days ago - and it didn't charge on my Canon charger!
7DayShop have sent a replacement [yet to arrive] but I too am wondering if these batteries are really compatible with the Canon charger.

Re: Batteries for 1dmkiii ......advice please

I have received a reply from 7 day shop today and they have requested the return of the faulty battery via a freepost address.
So far their customer service has been very good, the replacment arrived within about 3 working days.
I too wonder if the charger is not liking these batteries, the last one was quite warm when I retrieved it.
Good luck with yours TeeCee, my tin foil hat protects me from the weather Pete W.

I charge mine up in the Caonon unit, but I do keep an eye on it and not let it stay in the unit much longer than it needs to.

Re: Batteries for 1dmkiii ......advice please

Received the replacement battery from 7DayShop within 36 hours of reporting the problem.
This time, the battery charged up OK and thus far, it seems to be operating fine.
7DayShop didn't want the old battery back - almost as if they had other failing batteries back to check and knew that there might be problems with the occasional battery.
