Epson Arrrgh!1900 Printer
I've had my Epson R1900 printer for over a year now. I haven't used it a lot, rather saving the expensive ink set (at £90 a set) for when I get something worth printing. As I'm still just a learner, I haven't taken much that I actually consider worth printing yet. The odd one or two at A3 size, that's about it.
Anyhow, I wanted to try printing out a panoramic image I'd taken last week and so ordered some Photo Glossy Canvas Roll from Marrutts and replenished the Epson ink cartridges before setting about printing. Fitted the cartridges in, no problem.
Now I've never ever used the roll type media in this printer before, only sheets in the top tray. I followed the instructions from the manual to 'T'. Do you you think I could get the ruddy paper to load? It took ages for the printer to grab the leading edge and pull the paper in. Once it had done so initially, the printer decided to pull another six feet off the roll without printing on it and the paper feeding stopped. I pressed the button on the front of the printer to reverse the paper in order to wind it back onto the roll. Did it heck as like do that?! Another six foot, followed by another 3 feet fed through!
There was no easy way of getting the paper to go back on the roll other than try and force it by pulling from the rear of the printer. So instead, I had to continue pressing the 'reverse' button to make it go 'forward' until the whole roll was emptied. I then carefully had to wind it all back onto the core, ready to start the print job again. I powered off the printer and powered back on hoping it might put it right. Then the ink charging came in to play. Not once or twice but about half a dozen times! I powered it off again and the computer, went and sat down for an hour to calm down.
A dozen fags later plus thre cuppas and I finally got the image printed ok. However, most of the cartridges were 50% depleted before printing and half a metre or so of the canvas paper roll was wasted in the process.
The print looks great. But then it should do as it must've cost me £50 to print it! I've read a lot since, about other Epson users having paper feed problems with the Epson A3+ series printers. Epson are aware too it appears. Too late to change it now as I can't afford another printer just yet. Instead, I'm considering getting a Lyson CISS system. Hopefully, that'll keep costs down a bit.

Forgot to ask (too busy ranting!)..... Has anyone else experienced similiar problems with their printer?
