    Kookaburra

Went back to Marwell today to try and get a few more "natural" looking shots, particularly of the kookaburra's, without a distracting background.

You've certainly succeeded in eliminating the annoying backgrounds. Nice work.

A superb capture Stan. First time I've seen a photo of a Kookaburra in captivity without a cluttered/distracting background.

    Cheers Stu
They are lovely birds and very tame, which made it easier to shoot

I really like this - you would never know it was a zoo shot and it is pin sharp! I didn't know they are so colourful.

    Re: Kookaburra

    Thanks for looking Ffion
They really are lovely birds and are quite used to people, so not worried about perching very close.
Here's a couple of other shots, the first on one of the fences, same lens, at 98mm and the second a close up portrait with the lens at 140mm. both are almost the full frame .Worth mentioning that neither needed much processing - the more I use the 7D the more and more I love it

A lovely series of shots Stan. I really like the first and last shots.

I haven't really gotten to grips with the 7D yet and am still inconsistent with it. Plus I think one of my lenses may be on the fritz.

    Thanks for your comments James.

I am probably quite lucky in sussing it quite quickly, mind you I've taken about 4000 shots already so I've had the practice and many still end up in the bin
