I have lightroom 2 as well, I preordered them when i arrived here in the states and got both upgrades for $268-bargain,One thing i have noticed after the new adobe fix is that when using the adjustment brush say on a fox when i go to erase bits i have painted over the erase part is very slow and its like rubbing through ice on a windscreen it takes a while to get to the glass whereas before it was instant

Sorry to ask this question.

Just upgraded my RAM from 2gB to 4gB (Win XP) and although I can see this in the Help/ System Info section of CS4 in the Edit/ Preferences/ Performances CS4 only shows available RAM at 1682Mb.

Any idea why I cant see more? Have I missed something?
80% setting gives 1351mB to Photoshop.

Thanks Dave, question is I can only go up to 1682mB of Ram when there is over 3gB available. I would have thought that I should be able to select something in the region of 2.5gB, certainly more than the 1682mB (100%) at the moment.

Is there a limit within Windows XP of 2gB for any one application which seems to be what I am getting from the net?

If you move to vista 64 and run 64 bit photoshop then, once you've allocated the amounts within Photoshop, all your RAM will come out to play!

However there are still some finite "Bill Gates" limits Vista Basic 64 up to 16GB others 64's up 128GB, and you have to beware of the effects on your plugins.

There are various web articles that cover the configurations and look at the benefits, just search vista 64, photoshop CS4, RAM.

I am sure that there is somewhere in preferences that allows you allocate more ram to photoshop-on my laptop at the mo so will look later

From my limited knowledge on PC's ... XP can only "see" 3Gb RAM in 32bit windows .... and your hard pushed even with registry edits to see more.

XP 64 can do more than 3gb .. but Vista 32 / 64 can see 4Gb and above etc.

I run Vista 64 Ultimate, and all is well with my 4Gb ....
