    Another Day Over

Not been out with the camera since the trip with Hugh so when I saw that the farmer across the road had left his old Davie Brown at the foot of his road I thought I better get a shot as it might not last much longer.

    40D, Sigma10-20, FL10mm, Av f/8, Tv 1/25, ISO 100, 0.9 Grad.

    WDYT?

Like it Alex, shame he couldnt have parked it rear facing the sunset, however that aside youve done a great job of capturing it as it was.
Another fine landscape from Alex - is this strictly a landscape - you are the boss let you make the judgement, lol :p

Alex how are you able to get FL10 with a filter on? Im struggling to get lower than 12mm with my current set up? See you still have snow up that way but it dont look as deep as Ive seen it on TV. I like the colours in the sky I would like to see a more close of the tractor as it looks like its had a bit of a life.

    Re: Another Day Over

LOL Stu, well I decided to use a tractor this time instead of my usual rock so it's a landscape

Mark, I use one of my old Cokin filter holders were I cut off a filter slot so that they're only two slots left. This allows me to go down to 10mm without getting any vignette in the corners of the image.
We had about 8'' of snow last weekend again but it's quickly melting away, it was blowing horizontally across the fields so not a lot lay there, just hope that's the last of it.

    Thanks guys.

very clever Alex a motorised rock - Im sure that will catch on
lol so if I get my dog to sit down in front of a mountain - as long as mountain in focus then its a landscape, I like that

how did you place the grad on this? I assume you would end up darkening the upper part of the tractor if you're not careful.

I've moved on from the inflatable rock Stu, you've got to move with the times you know :p

Can't remember James, I go into auto mode when I take a shot, don't think to much about it.
It was likely below the skyline using a soft grad.

Ah thanks Alex now I get it I may get a filter holder and do the same as I rarely stack three filters - thanks for the tip.

    Re: Another Day Over

Horizon is a bit central but in attempt to keep the detail in the snow I don't think you could have got around it though....
As for the 1412, it's nowt but a bairn , 35 years old, I spent 16 years manufacturing parts for these things, in the same plant it was built in, for the company that gave Aston Martin, the DB!!

    Re: Another Day Over

So your telling me that the DB is just an old tractor then

Just looked at another image of this and it's a 1212, not much of a difference likely.

    Re: Another Day Over

Yea, David Brown bought Aston Martin in the 60's and lent his name to the cars, DB5 anyone?.
I think the 1212 was normally aspirated and the 1412 was turbo charged, sad I know!!!

    Re: Another Day Over

    Beautiful image Alex.

Why is it tractors work so well in Photography? They just do!!! :). Excellent composition, lovely and sharp and it works so well with the landscape and lovely sky tones.

I was just up in Scotland myself (and I didn't darn well get to Glen Coe! pff) and witnessed the snow you've captured here. You can see it just in the mountains on my Loch Lomond shot I just posted.
