    Classic Jurassic

I'm a big fan of working from home, so I decided to pop down to Kimmeridge this morning
The combination of last of the spring low tides coinciding with a sunrise was was calling me.
It was ice skating this morning on the ledges, but a beautiful sunrise and had the whole bay to myself for a couple of hours = very nice indeed
Tried to use the sidelight, a bit different to the classic Kimmeridge views. WDYT ?

    40D, Sigma 10-20 @ 10mm. f/16, 1/6 sec. 0.6 ND grad.

    Cheers,
    Stu

Love this, Stu. Plenty of interest throughout, great clarity and lovely tones. Part of that pool looks like a map of Wales!

sounds like the best way to start the day Stu. Great lead in lines and wonderful texture to the shot - well worth getting up and getting this shot - brilliant.

    Thank you Alun.
Must be a sign, but look, you can't be happy with that big path in from the south

Yes Mark, that is exactly it - nothing else is a problem after a morning like that

Very good quality and tonal range. I have a feeling that you should have used the left side more and less of the right lower half. Rob

I see your point Rob. The textures in the LH side are the main event

My main intention on this morning out, was to capture Maple Ledge, which is perhaps the forgotten ledge at Kimmeridge Bay (left at the bottom of the steps ).
When I drove round the side of Metherhills and saw the bay lit up by the moon, I figured I had to make something of it, and this was the result.

    10mm, f/16. 8sec. 2 stop of ND grad.

    Cheers,

I like the first image best Stu. Lovely texture in the foreground and nice pastel tones out towards the horizon. The second one is also very good but doesn't have quite the same impact as the first for me.

Like your composition in the first image and the details in the foreground, some nice hues too. Version 2 is not as strong for me you do really know were to look

    Many thanks for that guys.
I agree in having a preference for the first.

I particularly like the textures and detail in first - if this was blown up you could spend days on end admiring all the intricate shapes in this, the lovely tones and the clarity of the water, its just so relaxing, you can almost tell this was how it made you feel.
    well done

This was a very relaxing morning indeed, so glad I managed to portray that in the image.

    Re: Classic Jurassic

The first shot is (as ever) beautifully lit and composed. Am really hoping to spend a few days in the area next month but the likelihood of prising myself out of bed early enough to get into position on the coastal path before dawn is another matter entirely!

    Thanks Keith.
I hope you get your trip, it's a great place to spend some time with a camera. Although I have a strong preference for the light of sunrise, there is always sunset too. I may try one tomorrow for a change
Let me know if you need any info on locations.
