Issue with loading CS5 onto Windows 7

    Dear all

Is anyone else having trouble loading CS5 onto windows 7. I keep getting an error message up saying I don't have access to install it (there is plenty of space and have been installing it as the Admin).

    Any ideas??

    Thanks
    Jo

    Jo

    1) Are you installing from DVD or from a download?
    2) Are you installing a full version or a trial?
    3) Which edition and which version of W/7 are you running?
    4) Which edition of CS5 are you installing?
    5) What exactly does the error message say?

    Hi Jo,

If you have had previous versions of CS or Photoshop installed, this might be worth taking a look at :

Re: Issue with loading CS5 onto Windows 7

    Hi

I'm trying to download the trial from the web before I buy it. I'm using the ultimate windows 7 (with the black cover on the box). It's the CS5 extended (as the normal one doesn't come up for download) and the error messgae is 'A problem has occurred while etracting some files. Check available space on your computer and the write priviliges on the destination folder'

I have plenty of space and am the admin so should have all write privilages.

I have Elements 4 installed and works fine - was just trying to trial the CS5 to see if I liked it before purchasing it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Turn "User Access Control Off", reboot the machine and it will work. To access UAC click start and type UAC into the box at the bottom. Leave UAC off it is the biggest waste of time ever, just Microsoft trying to be clever.

Doesn't look like you are the only one experiencing this problem Jo. One suggested solution which appears to work for some users is to move the downloaded file just below the root of one of your drives - for example to a folder called C:\CS5 - and then try installing from there. The logic being that perhaps the length of the generated path names of the extracted files are causing problems if you run the extract from the desktop folder for instance.

Certainly worth a try in my opinion ...

I had a small hiccup when doing what you are trying to do.

When you click on the download button on the Adobe site does it install a installation program?

If so follow the instructions to download and install the main files (2 separate files if I remember). If prompted at any stage where to download to choose the downloads folder.

It will take a while to download the files and when complete ignore the installation page on screen.

Go to the downloads folder and find the Adobe folder and look for an exe file (run, setup, unpack or similar) This will create a folder on your desktop called Adobe CS5. Open this and click on the setup.exe file.

That is how I managed to istall on my m/c

Nope - still nothing.....it's starting to drive me insane!! Clearly I'm not destined for CS5 on my computer!!

Anyone else with any dazzling ideas.

Thanks to all for your help so far.

Contact Adobe. They'll talk you through it.

I had no issues with CS5 and Win 7 x64.
