A really nice shot. You have done fantastically to get it sharp at that shutter speed, handheld in a boat.
A real beauty

Cracking job, Mark and congrats on your first Kingfisher - you have done an excellent job with this one. Some superb colours, a wonderful uncluttered background and nice and sharp. Perhaps a touch too much space above it, but that is very much a personal preference thing and whichever way it is a cracker.

Hard to believe that this is your first Kingfisher - this is a lovely image.

Hi MO,
Superb shot of the Kingfisher, sharp and very well exposed and nice composition. Nothing to fault really.
That second image - is it me or does that bird look a bit gormless?

After extensive googleing of Sri Lankan birds (you can imagine some of the results!!!!! just glad my wife wasn't watching) I think it is a Stork Billed Kingfisher.

Superb depth of field and you've brought out the fantastic colours of the Kingfisher brilliantly, well done catching this elusive bird....they dart about way too quickly
